Wooooo… it’s the future!

I’m still thinking about you, baby… Another new website is here, even if the band isn’t (kind of).  We’re all really proud of what we did back in the day, so we thought to keep things nice and preserved on the internets.  Don’t be sad.  We may have some more stuff coming, or at least releasing some cool tracks from Joe’s 8 track.

Of course don’t hold your breath….  the last update was *gasp* 10 years ago and as the french always say – “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose” (the more things change, the more things stay the same).

We do a lot of french on this site for some weird reason.  Oh well, C’est la vie…

Eli

Lot’s and lot’s of updates to the site!
You may notice our website changing on a daily basis… please pardon our dust as we try to add on all the past, present & future Memories’ stuff. As always, we’ll do all the “quick news blurbs” on the homepage and elaborate right here!• July 3rd, 2009 – Myspace & Youtube links added to the homepage… Facebook & Twitter are to come ASAP. If Facebook didn’t ask for your fist born it’d be up right now too, but alas it’s a royal pain in the ass for bands. As for Twitter, if we all ask Eric “pretty please” I think we can convince him to start tweeting (hee-hee)

• June 27th, 2009 – Video’s up! Watch The T.E.I.G. Documentary now! … Man I remember doing this like it was yesterday. I wonder if Gerber still records bands?

Great Scott! Where has all of our news gone for the last 5 years?!
Flux Capacitor mishap?
Hole in the gas tank??
Did Biff steal the Delorian again???
Or have we simply not had a website up in a while and had to resort to stealing our old site news from the webwaybackmachine.com?
The world and Doc Brown may never know…

New MP3 up in multimedia.

If you go to the multimedia section, you can listen to the new mp3 up, Wimbledon (just in time for the actual tennis game).

So, go to it!

The news as we knews it….The Mems have taken a bit of time away from playing shows and touring to really focus on putting out another handful of songs in time for the summer but not to worry- look for shows to resume back up in May). As for recording of the new songs, we’ve contacted a good pal of mine in Mark Gustafson and his partner in crime Ian Zander who have been putting out a lot of good stuff for their lable MIA records (forgive me guys if you updated the studio name since then)… We may have it mastered again by Ken Sluiter (OK Go!) if they turn into something nice, so we’ll keep everyone afoot of all that.

A-ha! No, not the band… although that’d be fun…Yep. I bringeth the new stuff. Although it may not be the coolest stash you’ll ever see on this handy dandy news page (ohmygosh, Eli, see, Blogger didn’t eat you! You’re still alive! Isn’t it fun?) you’ll notice that there’s now a flyers page and new live pictures, and new song lyrics, and a cleaner shows page and this is a really song sentence so I’ll just stop it there.

I digress back to my main topic that I was never on, so technically I’m not digressing, I’m just going to start my new topic, which IS main. There’s a show tomorrow benefitting Eli’s cousin, so it will definitely be worthwhile.

All right. Hope the weather improves in Chicago, and I’ll talk to all of you later.

um, whoops…Yes the site was down yesterday due to some technical difficulties (and by “technical” i mean something i did)… We are hosted in Australia, so getting a hold of them is not exactly easy. But anyways, all is well in Memory land. Our show at the Double Door is tonight and we are pretty pumped. In case some of you heard that they may be closing down, that rumor is false- from my sources they are in contract negotiations for another 5 year lease, so rock on… see you all at the show

New News is good news…

Well, that teaches me for updating, lol…

Speaking of which, i did update the Shows, Links, and Contact section as well as put up the “new and improved” press kit in the latter… That’s Mem-tastic i’d have to say.

I am looking foward to our show in Streator, Illinois. I think a lot of kids will be there and i am glad to be helping out my cousin (in case you didn’t read it, he got struck by lightning last year… it was pretty bad).

Now, we all have to ask Nel “PRETTY PLEASE” and perhaps maybe she’ll start putting up the new stuff (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) she’s promised. Wouldn’t that be neat? 😉

Check message board for newest updates…

(Crap! Sorry, Eli, blogger rewrote over your last post… I couldn’t recover it…)

Chances are, if you’re looking for a show, you’ll have the best chance finding one in the Lounge.

In upcoming news: new wallpapers, hopefully new pictures (my hard drive fried last night and I nearly lost about a year’s worth of Memories stuff), more schnazzzz… maybe some new songs? Eli? Don’t know, but that would be really cool.

Oh! And this website is way prettiers than Phantom Planet’s, thankyouverymuch, and it was free. And I’m done plugging myself. Just saying.

So, fans, friends — keep on printing out those flyers. Sorry we don’t have really cool digital cameras to hand out as prizes or anything, but if you hand out enough flyers, we may get to the point where there will be handing-out-flyers-contests where you CAN get digital cameras.

The Memories Sing in the New Year!

The Memories have some new shows coming up in January. If the Chicago cold is getting to you, get inside into a cozy warm shows with some friends and some cocoa, man. What could be better? Absolutely nothing. So let’s get started with the current shows listing.

(The Memories and I would also like to wish you all a happy New Year, and we hope you all had a great winter holiday. Honestly. I am not just saying that to be nice.)

January 6th, 2004 – The Bottom Lounge – 8 PM doors
21+, 6$ cover
3206 N. Wilton, Chicago
www.thebottomlounge.com

21+ means there will be alcohol, for those who do not know. I recommend that if you’re coming from the ‘burbs, you take the train as it’s supposed to snow a lot this week.

ALL ages show (with the Velvet Velvet)
123 North Hale Street
Wheaton, IL 60187
630.221.0667

www.wheatongrand.org

From what I’ve heard, this is supposed to be a pretty big show. Tell all your friends, promote like crazy. It’ll be a blast (hopefully I’ll see some of you there, depending on the finals schedule *gives icy eyeball towards District 200*).

New Feature – Song Recommendations! (This week: Power-charged goodness)
Artist – Song
Sahara Hotnights – Alright, Alright
Rilo Kiley – The Frug
Broken Social Scene – Cause=Time

More news for the Wednesday, June 4th Bottom Lounge show featuring the Millions and the Memories (yeah, you try and promote that show without sounding like you’re mumbling :)…. I did just find out that it is a 21+ show, which means all of you who are underage will need to find some sort of loophole to that. Or you could find a copy of Photoshop and clone brush those nasty little red lines and numbers away.
Wednesday, June 4th (21+/5$ cover charge)
9:00 PM, with The Millions
The Bottom Lounge (formerly Lakeview Links)
www.bottomlounge.com
3206 N. Wilton Avenue
Chicago, IL (adjacent from the Alley off of Belmont)

Be agressive! Be! Be! Agressive! (and promote.) The link is right there. Save it to your computer, even.

Meh, okay. If you haven’t already noticed, I cleaned up the site a little more… note that this isn’t the permanent design. I added the “contact” page as well.
I want to remind you all to call in (or instant message) and request the Memories at WONC 89.1… again, the Memories are their featured band of the month (aw!). You can also just vote for the Memories on the “site” page. Clicky-click and get the Memories up that ‘net ladder.

Another cool thing that really doesn’t relate at all: 13, a series of articles that were written by journalists who shadowed a bunch of 13 year-old kids for a while. It’s in a Florida newspaper. Really addictive stuff.

I’ll see all you Memories fans (really need a catchier name, possibly something without the following words: muu-muu, mashed potatoes, money, muckrakers, matadors, monkeys, meshugganuts, etc…. well, matadors could be interesting.) later.

If you haven’t noticed already, there are live photos up. Go back to the main page, the link is right below the navigation table. And guess what? You can print out flyers and pass them around to people you know. Sound shibby? That’s ‘cos it is.
Click for the new flyer!

Seriously, do it. If your printer can’t handle it, just print in black and white. If you don’t have a printer, go buy one. If you don’t have a computer, I don’t know how you’re here, but I applaud your resourciveness.

And if you ever get a chance to see Foo Fighters live, do it. That is all I am going to say. This qualifies as music news! It’s news! But yes, CTRL and P. Or apple thing and P. You know you want to.

We’re also gonna play an “acoustic jam” Wednesday the 28th on 89.1 Local Chaos to help promote their big “Fun in the Sun w/ 89.1” dealy… So try to get out to Naperville and “have fun in the sun”, okay?? A pleasant time is insured- Money back Guarantee!! (yes, i realize it’s a free show…) ok then… See you all soon!

Hello everyone! Eli and I were on WONC 89.1 (Naperville/Chicago) tonight! The show we were on, Local Chaos, plays local music exclusively. They graciously let us stay for the full two-hour duration in which we talked and promoted our upcoming gigs and website. In addition, they played three of our songs: “So It’s Over,” “What Do You Think Of Me?” (first demo version), and “Oh! Well.” I must say that this was both a thrilling and surreal experience. In other words, we very much enjoyed ourselves. Eli answered the phones while I searched for the caller’s requests in a blue crate spilling over with CDs. We recorded some promo spots for later use (“Hi this is Eli and Brian the drummer boy from the Memories and you’re listening to WONC…”) so be listening for those. And call in and request us if you’re so inclined. We sincerely thank Carolyn and Phil (the DJs), who were so hospitable and pleasant to be around. All four of us went out for Slurpees afterwards, which just goes to show how nice they really are.
While at WONC, we were offered a fairly high profile gig in Naperville where one band from each of WONC’s programs is represented (with the Memories being from Local Chaos). Of course, we accepted (details forthcoming).

Well, I hope everyone in Memoryland is doing well! Thanks for the support!

Fondly,

Brian

Tonight we played the battle of the bands at COD. it was a really good show for us, and we got 2nd place, which for being completely foreign to most of the audience, i am really proud to have recieved… we tore the place up- literally, lol… that was probably the most destructive we’ve been in quite a while, but. always good fun of course… eric got so into it, he smashed one of his backup guitar to smithereens… total rock ‘n roll, lol…. also, we got to play a brand new song “big deal” for the first time, which went really well (no major fuckups or what not)… we met alot of cool people tonight too, which to me was probably the best part. it’s always a strange/nervous/weird/soothing feeling when you expose yourself to complete strangers and you are able to talk with them afterwards and hear what they have to say…. well that’s all for me tonight…. goodnight kids

Well, it looks like Brian has beat me to the first “real” entry into Memories news. Big news to come in the future, but we’re gonna keep that on the downlow for now. What I will say is to keep your peepers open to the website in the next month or so. New demo, new site, new, new, new everything. You’re gonna like, I promise..
